When it comes to party dresses, there were three clear trends during the Spring/Summer shows. These trends were seen everywhere from London to New York, from Alexander Wang to Valentino. Whatever style of dress you opt for next season, make sure it has an African, floral or paisley print. Let’s take a look at what to search for when looking for the perfect on-trend party dresses:

African Print
Safari and animal prints seem to be on-trend most years so they have become style classics. This Spring/Summer is no exception with big cat spots on party dresses. But for something a bit different think outside the box. At Proenza Schouler life-size zebra print was used in neon hues for a fresh, eye-catching look. And don’t stop at animal print, as ethnic inspired prints and intricate African beading will also look great on any party dresses next season.

Floral Print
Perhaps this isn’t a breakthrough trend either, but there’s no denying that floral print was all over the Spring/Summer catwalks. Bold, mismatched flower prints were seen at Mary Katrantzou and Sportmax whilst over at Alexander Wang and Valentino florals were much more subtle in monochrome. Take your pick for inspiration; anything goes with floral party dresses next season!

Paisley Print
Lastly, paisley is a new print in comparison to the previous two trends. Not in its history, as paisley is an iconic pattern from India but in that it hasn’t been on-trend for some time. Designers used paisley print in a number of ways, including at Jil Sander where paisley printed cotton day dresses were showcased and at Emilio Pucci where psychedelic paisley ranged from turquoise and lime to pink and scarlet.

So that’s the top three emerging trends for Spring/Summer. Whatever style of dress you choose, make sure you stay on-trend with these prints!
